^^------ A talent deficient Dragon team was unable to adequately
compete with the Tigers’ offensive firepower.
^^^-----The Dragons were shut out for five consecutive
games (2nd thru 6th).
&------- Jefferson lost every game during the 1991 season for
only the third time in Dragon football history with the
other years being 1947 and 1948.
This loss to Social Circle completed a two year, 19-game
losing streak which is the longest in Dragon football history
and which also tied the 19-game losing streak from the
first game of 1947 through the second game of 1949.
This losing streak through the last game of 1991
dated back to the second game of 1990.

+-------- First Jefferson game for Coach Marc Wilson
++-------This victory ended the 19-game losing streak by
the Dragons from the previous two seasons.
$-------- Matt Childress had a 99-yard kickoff return for a TD.This return is tied for the longest KNOWN KO RETURN TD
in Jefferson history with another 99 yarder by Childress
against Monticello again the next year in 1993. Yes, this is correct.
^---------Following a Dragon TD late in the fourth quarter, Jefferson
failed on a two-point conversion pass attempt that would
have tied the game, as the rally fell just shy.
RB Wayne Borders cut the initial Tiger lead to (8-6) with a
one-yard plunge, but the two-point conversion pass failed.
In the fourth period:
QB Scott Jackson passed 43 yards down the right sideline
in front of the Jefferson bench to Tyler Truelove for the
potential tying touchdown.
However, the try for the game tying two-point conversion
pass attempt using the same combo fell incomplete, and
the Dragons lost a hard-fought game to the Tigers by two.

with this close win; the margin of victory was a first
quarter touchdown by the Dragons who at one point
in the contest had held a (9-0) advantage.
Chunta Gill was the catalyst for the Dragons with a
35-yard TD run in the first quarter, and he added a
23-yard FG with only five seconds remaining in the
first half for the (9-0) Jefferson lead.
After Commerce had cut the second half Dragon lead to

the Jefferson defense near midfield.
The Jefferson defense was outstanding, as they shut
down the Tiger offense for most of the evening.

##------- Friday the 13th record, (10-4-2)

the Tigers’ first quarter score, as the Dragon defense
manhandled the Tigers.
QB Jody Pollack had two touchdown passes of 8 and
17 yards to Steve Fields and Brandon Anglin, while
Matt Childress added another TD on a 2-yard run.
^^^-----This is the ONLY PLAYOFF GAME ever played betweenJefferson and Commerce; it was a region playoff game
in Jefferson. Jefferson was the 2nd seed behind
Buford, and Commerce was the 3rd seed.
Jefferson jumped out to an early (6-0) lead and later led
(12-7) at the half following TD runs of 7 and 6 yards
by Jody Pollock. However, Commerce scored on its first
two drives of the third quarter, as the Dragons fell behind
(12-22). Jefferson closed the gap to (18-22) with a TD in
the middle of the fourth period when Pollock hit Matt
Childress with a 43-yard pass over the middle. However,
Commerce kept the ball for the last 6:00 of the fourth

2OT----- Jefferson’s THIRD OVERTIME game historically;
Commerce won in the second overtime
period with a field goal.
Counting the four ties, the lead changed hands eleven times
in this contest. This was one of the greatest and most
exciting games ever played between Jefferson and
Commerce. It was a tough one for the Dragons to lose
after earlier missing a 37-yard field goal wide right at
the end of regulation which would have broken the
(24-24) tie and given Jefferson the victory.
The (24-24) tie score at the end of regulation is tied for
second as the highest tie score in a regulation game in
Jefferson football history; also (1990) -OT Record, (1-2)
Jefferson scores were:
Adam Rooks, a 68-yard TD run; J.J. Brueshaber had
a 32-yard FG; Travis Martin, a 20-yard TD run;
Wade Johnson, a 1-yard TD run;
Justin Mize, had a 7-yard TD run

$--------- Jefferson rallied from a (12-0) halftime deficit to cut the Commerce lead
to (15-13) midway through the fourth period after a TD and a missed
two-point conversion. However, the rally fell just shy of a victory,
when late in the fourth period a game-winning field goal by the
Jefferson kicker sailed just barely wide left after a determined drive.
RB Tyler Hill had a 1-yard TD run, and QB Josh Bohanan had
an 18-yard TD pass to HB Zac Crosby.
$$-------- Jefferson rallied from a (13-0) halftime deficit to take the lead at (14-13)
in the fourth period after a 45-yard TD run by Zac Crosby and a
76-yard TD pass from Bohanan to Williamson, only to have AA gain
the win with a late field goal and later add another TD.
A win vs. AA would have given Jefferson part of a three way tie for first
place in the Region 8A title hunt with Athens Academy and Commerce.
