Softball

JEFFERSON 6, NORTH OCONEE 5: At Bogart, North Oconee was down by three runs with two outs in the seventh inning and recorded three consecutive hits to pull within a run of Jefferson but the visiting Lady Dragons -- who had fallen behind 3-1 early -- prevailed in Region 8-AA South. Jefferson also defeated North Oconee 3-2 on Sept. 1, dealing the Lady Titans their only two sub-region losses.

Savannah Snapp earned the victory in the circle for the Lady Dragons, giving up eight hits and two earned runs to go with one strikeout. She also went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Snapp was followed by Raegen Sandy (three hits, one run, one RBI) and Paige Pate (two hits, one run).

The Lady Titans -- ranked No. 9 in Class AA -- were led by Hannah Harden (two hits, including a home run, two RBIs), Sara Stites (three hits, including two doubles, one run, one RBI), Brianna Avery (one hit, one RBI) and Baleigh Nobles (two hits). Harden sustained the loss, allowing nine hits and three earned runs to go with one strikeout.

North Oconee (21-7, 9-2) will host Jackson County at 5:55 p.m. Thursday, with the winner claiming the No. 1 seed in the sub-region. Jefferson (11-17, 8-3) will play at 5 p.m. Thursday at Oglethorpe County.

EAST JACKSON 4, JEFFERSON 1: Jordan Whitfield had the Lady Dragons lone RBI in a loss at East Jackson on Thursday.

Jefferson (10-17, 7-3 Region 8-AA) travels to North Oconee to play at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday.

JEFFERSON 7, Elbert County 4: On Wednesday at Jefferson ( 10-17, 7-2 Region 8-AA ), the Lady Dragons came from behind to defeat Elbert County 7-4.

JEFFERSON 8, HART CO. 0: Savannah Sapp was the winning pitcher after pitching three innings. Morgan McKinney came in for the final three innings and threw five strikouts.

The Lady Dragons (9-17, 6-2 Region 8-AA) will host Elbert County at 6 p.m. today and celebrate Senior Night.

 

September 8, 2011

Jackson County sophomore Kortnee Satterfield allowed only three hits and led Class AA’s No. 10 Jackson County to a 2-1 win against Jefferson on Thursday in Jefferson.

Sophomore Kortnee Satterfield earned the win, giving up three hits and striking out two for the Lady Panthers.

Alyssa Dasher and Madison Whitmire each scored a run and Mason Garland had an RBI for Jackson County (9-3, 5-1 Region 8-AA).

Jordyn Whitfield hit a home run for the Lady Dragons.

Jefferson (7-12, 5-2) plays Habersham Central at 6 p.m. and Union County at 7 p.m. today in the Buford Invitational.

 

September 7, 2011 

FLOWERY BRANCH 4, JEFFERSON 2: Jordan Phillips went 2-for-3 with an RBI, but took the loss on the mound as the Lady Dragons lost in the first round of the Buford Invitational.

Phillips allowed four runs, just one earned, in 4 1?3 innings.

Jefferson will host Jackson County at 5:55 p.m. today. The Lady Dragons will continue play in the Buford Invitational at 6 p.m. Friday against Habersham Central and at 7 p.m. against Union County.

Casey Anderson hit a walk-off single in the seventh inning and Savannah Snapp pitched a complete-game five-hitter as Jefferson's softball team defeated North Oconee 3-2 on Thursday.

Hannah Harden suffered the tough loss for the Lady Titans after going all seven innings and allowing just one unearned run.

Brooke Turner (1-3, run), Sara Stiles (1-3, RBI) and Sara Stritt (1-2 RBI) led North Oconee (8-3-1) at the plate.

JEFFERSON 4, EAST JACKSON 0: Savannah Snapp picked up the win and allowed only three hits Tuesday in Jefferson. 

Reagan Sandy and Lindsey Miles each had two hits and scored a run for the Lady Dragons (5-10, 3-1 Region 8-AA), which plays host to North Oconee at 5:55 p.m. Thursday.

August 23, 2011 

JEFFERSON 14, ELBERT COUNTY 5: At Elberton, Jordyn Whitfield went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBIs and a double, Lindsey Miles was 3-for-6 with a run and Raegen Sandy was 3-for-6 with two runs, two RBIs and a double in Jefferson's softball rout of Elbert County.

Meagan Faulkner, Cathryn Knight and Leah Pryor all had two hits apiece for the Lady Dragons and Savannah Snapp pitched all seven innings and did not allow an earned run.

Jefferson (4-10, 2-1 Region 8-AA) will host East Jackson next Tuesday at 5:55 p.m.

JEFFERSON 4, HART COUNTY 2: At Hartwell, Savannah Snapp pitched all seven innings, allowing eight hits and two runs while striking out six and walking none in Jefferson's win over Hart County.

Jordyn Whitfield was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run for Jefferson, while Lindsey Miles was 2-for-3 with two runs and a stolen base.

Jefferson (3-5, 1-1 Region 8-AA) will play Oconee County today at 4 p.m. at the Mill Creek/North Gwinnett tournament.

JEFFERSON SPLITS: The Lady Dragons lost a pair of games Friday with a shutout defeat to Oconee County and a narrow loss to Collins Hill.

Savannah Snapp allowed just four hits against Collins Hill, but Jefferson's offense struggled mightily. Raegen Sandy had the only hit for the Lady Dragons.

Against Oconee County, Jordyn Whitfield and Paige Pate each finished 1-for-2.

The Lady Warriors' Geri Ann Glasco threw five scoreless innings with nine strikeouts and also homered in the win. McCall Faulkner hit a three-run triple.
