Boys cross country

TITANS WINS HOME MEET: At Bogart, North Oconee had five runners place in the top 10 to claim victory in a 12-team meet.

The Titans, who finished 26 points ahead of second-place Jefferson, were led by Cole Thornton (fourth place 18 minutes, 48.50 seconds), Jason Wright (sixth place, 18:56.10), Scott Bowden (seventh, 19:04.40), Preston Devaney (ninth, 19:15.40) and Chandler English (10th, 19:26.10).

Jefferson's Kyle Kashuba finished second (18:12.60) with Hart County's Ross Morris winning in 18:03.30.

Girls cross country

PIGG LEADS NORTH OCONEE: At Bogart, Olivia Pigg led North Oconee with a first-place finish as the Lady Titans won an 8-team meet.

Pigg, who crossed the finish line in 21 minutes, 26.77 seconds, was followed by Emily Measel (seventh place, 23:48.91) and Emma Lowring (12th, 24:01.84).

Oconee County's Bethany Walshe finished second overall in 21:56.14 and Reese Bowles of Jefferson was third at 22:25.20.

North Oconee, which bested second-place Oconee County by six points, will return to competition on Sept. 24 at Blessed Trinity.

CLARKESVILLE -- The Jefferson boys cross country team finished first with 66 points and the girls team finished third with 70 points on Saturday at the Mountain Eagle Invitational at North Georgia Tech.

The boys team was led by Trae Timmerman (third place, 18:47) and Kyle Kashuba (fifth place, 18:59). The Lady Dragons were led by Reese Bowles (second place, 22:08) and Sash Parker (sixth place, 24:21). The Dragons will run again on Thursday at a meet at North Oconee.
